Jesus the Christ: The Historical Jesus Essay example -- Biblical Histo

The Birth of rescuerWe can see the birth of Jesus in Matthew (Matt 118-25) (Matt 21-12), Luke (Luke 21-2) and John (John11-18). Both Matthew and Luke tell us that Jesus birth place was in Bethlehem in Judea in the time of King Herod of Judea and Emperor Augustine of the Roman Empire. The gospels tell us that Jesus was natural in a stable under an inn (Luke 27). This is unlikely because Bethlehem was the birthplace of David, who was Josephs ancestor. This means that there may have been a mansion house with his cousins or extended family there. The Hebrew word for inn can too be described as the upper room and in traditional Judaic houses, there was an upper room where the family stayed and underneath this was the place where the animals were kept. This could have been seen as the stable under the inn. Now because of the census performed by Emperor Augustine the Jews had to break to their ancestral home that meant that the house Mary and Joseph were staying at could have b een full, so the upper room was full, making the only available room for the baby to be born in the stable below. Jesus was thought to be traditionally born in 1AD after the Monk Dionysus Exigus tried to calculate the year, from the Birth of Jesus, by taking away the reigns of Kings. Unfortunately Exigus made a few errors and Jesus is now thought to be born a few years BC. We fare that in Matt 21 and Matt216 (Luke 155) that King Herod the Great was the ruler of Judea. From Roman records we know that King Herod died in 4BC near the spreadhead of the Passover. This means that the earliest time Jesus could have been born was early 4BC. Herod plays an integral part in determining Jesus birth date because it also could explain the Bethlehem Star, which we... ...s full and to stop the spread of disease. But after the three days cleansing period, some of the disciples returned to find the stone rolled away and the trunk of Jesus missing. Grave robbing was a serious crime punish able by death and it would have taken a team to roll the stone. But Jesus had told his disciples many times that he would rise again on the third day, which they obviously did not comprehend. He spoke to them later on when he appeared to them and to head he was still human said see my hands and feet, that it is I Myself handle and see For a spirit hath not bones and flesh as you see I have (Luke 2439). He shows the apostles the obvious wounds he still has from his crucifixion, and then invites them to touch him, vanquishing thoughts of an apparition.Work Cited natural American Standard Bible. Physics of Superconductors Essay -- physics superconductor

As most people know (or dont know, whichever is the case) the component of an electrical circuit that causes free energy detriment is called resistance, which can be defined as a materials opposition to current being passed through it. Usually, this resistance results in the production of heat, sound, or another underframe of energy. In many cases, this transformation of energy is useful in such applications as toasters, heaters, and light bulbs. Even though it is a useful property, resistance lots gets in the way of performance in such cases as high voltage transmission wires, electric motor output, and other cases where internal system energy losses are unwanted. This is where the phenomenon of superconducting materials comes into play and may present the solution to this energy loss problem.Superconductors are materials that display zero resistance under certain conditions. These conditions are called the critical temperature and critical field, denoted Tc and Hc respectively . The Tc is the highest temperature state the material can attain and bide superconductive. The Hc is the highest magnetic field the material can be subject to before reverting to its normal magnetic state. Within the substances currently known to superconduct, there is a divide between what has come to be called type I and type II superconductors. Type I are composed of pure substances, usually metals, and type II are composite compounds, usually some motley of ceramic.Additional differences between type I and type II exist, mainly that type II display superconducting qualities at much higher temperatures and can remain superconductive in the presence of much higher magnetic fields. While type I have Tcs that hover just a few degrees from absolute zero, t... ...e the railing and is propelled by the magnetic forces caused by the induced currents.Another use of superconductors is in Magnetic Resonance Imaging, or MRI, in which the superconductor helps in creating a non-invasive method of feel at a persons brain activity.Yet another area where superconductors would be especially helpful is in the power and electronics industry where power losses gussy up from a systems internal resistance. If a power generator was constructed with superconducting components the efficiency of the motor would be greatly increased. The electronics industry would benefit from faster switching times, smaller components, and great circuit efficiency. The world of superconductors is expanding at a tremendous rate. As the uses and possibilities for their use become more apparent, our society might see them more and more in everyday life.

Deforestation Resulting from European Shipbuilding :: Environment Environmental Pollution Preservation

Deforestation Resulting from European ShipbuildingHistorical texts have documented the countless technologies, ideas, diseases, plants and animals the European ships delivered around the world during the Age of Exploration. However, these texts fail to include one key cargo item deforestation. European shipbuilding triggered an epidemic of forest depletion that gradually ranch to the lands they encountered. Beginning in the early fourteenth century, wood fueled the increased production of exploratory sea vessels. The loss of trees coincided with the rapid rate of shipbuilding. Eventually, Europeans exploited their baseball bat reserves to such an extreme that they began looking elsewhere for wood, including colonies in North America and Southeast Asia. With newfound resources, the European shipbuilding machine churned on, yet in the beginning long deforestation in like manner became an issue in the colonial areas. Although shipbuilding played an integral role in a period of Europe an advancement, it devastated not only the European env urge onment but the forests of other continents as well. Prior to the Age of Exploration, hardwood trees blanketed all of Europe to form a forest giOB47comparable in size to the Amazon Basin (David Morse). Forest density was intense, such that scattered clearings must have appeared like islets in an ocean of green (Morse). Nevertheless, as reality discovered the value of wood as fuel for warmth, deforestation followed close behind. The progression of human technologies presented more uses for timber. Eventually, wood became a staple in a wide range of manufacturing processes, among them shipbuilding. The production of sea vessels put extreme pressure on the oldest and largest trees in European forests the massive tree trunks that were years in the making were also the best suited for the immense hulls of open sea ships. For every ship built, the environment lost some of its oldest flora members, who were unfortunately also the hardest to replace.Shipbuilding was also closely intertwined with another forest consuming industry metallurgy, especially iron production. Iron comprised the weaponry and structural support aboard umteen sea vessels. Because the production of iron required high temperatures, the demand for firewood grew to almost insatiable proportions. Thus, the amount of timber invested in shipbuilding included more than fair(a) the lumber for the hulls. As David Morse points out, the trend in metallurgy history dictated that wherever ironmaking took over . . . it did away with the forest (Morse). In effect, shipbuilding and its association with iron production impacted the forest landscape two-fold.

Animalistic Characters In Medieval Times :: essays research papers

The many temptations of life bring people to act differently through personality changes. The characters in Sir Gawain the third estate Knight change their personalities through temptation. Through the Christmas time, Bertilak, king of the castle, decides to go hunting. While he is hunting, his wife is hunting or seducing Gawain. Men tempted with sex by women very much act with certain animalistic instincts in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight by the Pearl Poet, the subjugation scene leads Gawain to act upon his animal instincts, which mimic the behaviors of the beasts of Bertilaks hunt. The temptation in the first seduction scene and the first hunt scene of the deer relates in both shy and timid ways. When the lady approaches Gawain, he acts shy " situated his head low again in likeness of sleep" (25). Gawain, confused at the directness of the lady, pret wind ups to be asleep. She throws her body at him, which startles Gawain to act ignorant. At the end of the first seducti on scene, Gawain says, "I shall kiss at your command" (28). The deer, which at first is shy, scarce at the end of the hunt is killed, relates to Gawains shy behavior, but at the end of the seduction scene is caught and kissed. Although the deer is the shyest of animals, the pig is caught with more use of power and strength. The next seduction and hunt scene revolves around the behavior of the grunter. The boar is a quick and aggressive animal. It has a "bloodthirsty heart to quell" (31). Gawain, when approached by the lady in the second seduction scene, acts less ignorant to his position, but temptation draws him to be aggressive. "My aim is to please," (33) said Gawain. The lady tempts Gawain to such an extent that he tries to resist her by exchanging two kisses with her, instead of sleeping with her. The hunt of the boar caught at last with more strength then the deer, is parallel to the lady attempting to pursue Gawain. He is more tempted to her and fina lly is caught by power. The temptation of the third seduction scene and the hunt of the fox are the most forceful.Gawain is tempted to the extreme during the hunt of the fox. The fox has a sly and deceiving personality. "He thought through his wiles to have impel off the hounds" (36). The fox tries to sneak away from the dogs, which happens to be the most outgoing personality characteristic.

Analysis of Willy Russell’s Blood Brothers :: Theatre Drama Blood Brothers Plays Essays

Analysis of Willy Russells kindred Brothers fork me its not trueSay its just a romanceThese words echoed in my head as I entered the Phoenix Theatre. I hadhad past experience with Blood Brothers by singing the heartbreakingballad Tell Me Its Not True in a past show. Therefore I anticipatedthat the performance I was about to watch was going to be a rollercoaster of emotions, with bitter consequences.I expected a first class show with strong, slick performances from thecast and fantastic musical numbers. This expectation of BloodBrothers was partly due to it being in the reputable West End ofLondon and had been running at the Phoenix Theatre since 1991. Thismade me think that a musical that could still have large audiencescoming to see it in the highly competitive London Theatre scene, musthave something exceptional.I similarly has background knowledge about Blood Brothers from readingthe script in parts in class. How ever so, some parts of the play werestill patchy to me, so I was looking forward to having the entire level acted out from start to finish. It was interesting for me aswell because I was familiar with other plays Willy Russell hadwritten. Having seen Shirley Valentine and read A Grand Day Out Ienjoyed his of simple, uncluttered style of writing.Blood Brothers is set in Liverpool 1962. Its story stems from animpoverished single mother of six called Mrs Johnstone who, byfinding that she is pregnant with twins, is persuaded to give up oneof her unborn children to her employer, Mrs Lyons. The story unfoldsby portraying how the two brothers grow up so differently without ever cunning they have a twin.Of one womb born, on the self same day How one was kept and one givenaway? The story deepens when the twins be keep up friends when they are sevenbut both realise that they have the same birthday and therefore areboth nearly octonary. They become best friends and declare one anotherto be their Blood Brother. From then on the story follows theirpersistenc e to remain friends and the obstacles each come up against.Sadly though, their forbidden friendship finally leads to oneanothers tragic death never knowing the truth that they werebrothers.Never knowing they shared one name Till the day they diedI never really absorbed the absurdity of the storyline because thescript was so subtle in its telling of the story, and the performanceof the cast didnt over dramatise the events unfolding. If they had,it would have made the story have an unwanted comical element as it

ADA Sports Management Essay

The ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) has changed the way wherein open organizations offer unpaid activities. My paper will assess the privileges of the handicapped individual who might want to take an enkindle in cheeral sport under their rights siren by the ADA. My paper will likewise talk about past models and court evaluations that made a point of reference for their rights. In 1990 the ADA was approved, but since then there have been m each court decisions and complaints. Most of the decisions have supported the right of the disabled individual to enjoy recreational sport with able-bodied athletes in the most integrated way as possible. There be countless rules and rights established by the ADA and this paper will discuss the precedent cases in recreation. The disabled individual while collapseicipating in recreational sports has the right to take fraction in the most joined setting. This is characterized in the U. S. Division of Justice guidelines as the setting in which connection between individuals with and without disabilities is given to the greatest degree credible. collect more Basic Economic problem of Scarcity EssayAs a result, each and ein truth recreation and sport opportunity that is offered for individuals without having a check is likewise accessible to the individual who has a disability. The overview of Anderson v. pocket-sized League Inc. Respondents, Little League baseball enterprise and its president, received a strategy that denied wheelchairs from being on the baseball field or in the instructs box. Offended party mentor had been an on-field base mentor in a wheelchair for three years around then the arrangement was embraced, yet was equipped to keep serving as an on field base mentor since the neighborhood Little League declined to uphold the approach. Offended party launched activity compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), 42 U. S. C. S. 12182(a), for revelatory and injunctive rilievo since pained party accepted that litigant might not permit offended party to mentor on the field throughout the following season-end competition, where offended party was now chosen to mentor in the competition. The court allowed offended partys requisit ion for a makeshift controlling request and urged respondents from ward off or endeavoring to avoid offended party from taking part completely or being included to the full degree of offended partys obligations as a mentor, and from threatening or undermining players and their families. The court discovered that the ADA connected to litigants and that offended party introduced no immediate risk to open security. This is angiotensin converting enzyme of the precedent cases regarding recreational sport given by the ADA. The case is Anderson v. Little League Inc in 1992 for a non-profit corporation. The rules of the Little League in 1992 denied a disabled individual in a wheelchair from being on the field Alliance authorities in azimuth had not implemented this control and Anderson had taken amusement in contributing. In the same year Arizona Little League educated Anderson to implement Little League USA policy in the state competition. Andersons congregation had met all requirement s for the competition, however now Anderson couldnt be on the field. The Little League administer was received for the security of members. In any case administers, by their special character, has a tendency to segregate. Since Anderson cared to be on the field, he had no decision yet to head off to court. He did, victorious an injunctive order precluding Little League from implementing the law.The Court said that Little Leagues strict provision of the guideline to Anderson, without an evaluation of his capability, a recognizable proofread of the danger he went through, and the thought of sensible way he could be accommodated, abused his rights under the ADA. Essentially, the Little League governs and treats all disabled individuals the same without maintain for the reality, which was supported by McGovern 2013. MLB baseball player Jim Abbott pointed out some of his disadvantages of being a disabled individual when playing sports. He was born disabled without a right hand on Septe mber 19, 1967 and grew to love baseball, but being disabled came with disadvantages and here is what his take was Sports had always been my crutch. For an insecure kid who wanted very much to be accepted, success in athletics covered up a lot of hurt for a long time. But in 1996 it all came crashing down. I was failing. As hard as I tried it would just get worse. By the end of they year I was sent to the minor leagues for the archetypal time in my life. Im not going to tell you that I handled that year with all of the grace I would have liked. All I could do was to keep on trying. The following spring I was released from the Angels. Cleaned out my locker in front of my friends and drove home alone through the Arizona desert. Disadvantages of being a disabled individual playing sports was more of a emotional disadvantage than a physical which was shown throughout Abbotts speech. There are not only downsides to being a disabled early days in but also many ways they are benefitted th rough any recreational sport. All individually disabled youth need practice to help enhance their adaptability and go of movement. The National Center on Physical Activity and harm refers to these extra focal points of being physically animated to help advance expertise and technique. They additionally experience less depression and are easier to cope with problem-focused situations. Disabled youths social and communication skills improve. Students often learn desirable behaviors exceed from each other in a typical environment. They experience a decrease in stigmatization. Students with disabilities report feeling more like a part of their peer community because they are able to contribute to the team or group effort.Being an integral part of a group allows disabled youth to develop social judgment and take and follow peer leadership. Students with disabilities are able to foster friendships in a natural way and in a natural environment. This sense of belonging helps build self-esteem and a feeling of personal achievement. -Yvette J. Brown Disabled Baseball Progams In the same way as other professional sport groups, the Detroit Lions worked with different youth teams in Michigan to push participation at the recreational games. The Lions collectively welcomed youth teams to submit entrances and subsequently, by lottery, the Lions might pick a group to visit a professional game and have certain seating for one dollar for each player. The group that won was a w heelchair sport group. The point when instructed regarding this by the group delegate, the Lions said the charge might now need to be high than one dollar. When they instal out a portion of the children who might go did not use wheelchairs, the Lions called attention to the deficiency of friend seats and said those kids might need to sit somewhere else. The Lions likewise noted their arrangement obliging disabled individuals to land for a visual examination to establish that the disabled individual did really need to use a wheelchair. The U. S Department of Justice requested the Lions to change their see first approach, only because of a complaint that was placed, to allow friend seating. And to give the individuals with disabilities the same prices as the able bodied athletes. The Lions were told to give more than $50,000 in stock to help maintain the group. The ADA states that no game or recreation supplier should charge a higher expense, or a surcharge, for the expense of facilit ies or the expense of giving recreation in the most integrated setting. In broad daylight park and recreation programs, a charge for comprehensive inclusion that requires a settlement that is not different in relation to an expense charged to different members who are not disabled individuals. For example in golf lesson the teacher uses oral direction. For a golfer who is hard of hearing, the oral guideline will not suit the deaf athlete. The parks and recreation branch should give a communication by the means of gestures and translators for that golfer. The golfer an expense for the lesson afterward will include a charge for the gesture based communication mediator. It can just charge the same expense it charges to different golfers. In conclusion, the cases higher up are essentially drawn from Title II of the ADA. Congress expected units of state and nearby government to act faster and have a higher limit for ADA consistence than Title III organizations.

Impacts of Tourism on National Parks (UK) Essay

subject area parks around the world are increasingly attracting visitors to experience pristine and unique inborn environments. National Parks are extensive tracts of the countryside that urinate been given strong protection under legislation for the conservation and enhancement of their special qualities.According to the Environments flirt (1995) National Parks were designated for two statutory purposes 1- To conserve and enhance the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage and 2- To provide opportunities for the understanding and enjoyment of the Park by the public. The National Park Authorities (NPA) are responsible for the overall management of National Parks their duty is to ensure that the two objectives of National Parks are fulfilled.tourism IMPACTSTourism impacts are the effects that tourists and tourists activities have on a destination. We will be looking at three main types of impacts that tourism laughingstock have on a destination. They are environmental, soci o-cultural as well as economic impacts. The word impact gives a negative meaning however tourism impacts can be both positive and negative on a destination.Environmental Impacts (physical what can be seen) It is not possible to develop tourism without incurring environmental impacts. Tourism development and activities (litter / pollution) can gradually destroy an environments resources. Many of these impacts involves the construction of infrastructure e.g. Creation of roads hotels & airports etc. Tourism has the electromotive force to create beneficial effects on the environment by contributing to environmental protection and conservation. Tourism can also raise awareness of environmental values and it can serve as a tool to finance protection of natural areas and increase their economic importance.Economic Impacts There is no incertitude that tourism has a large effect on theeconomy of a destination. Tourism contribute to sales, profits, employment opportunities for locals (tr ansportations, accommodations), and generate income for payment of goods and services provided.Socio-Cultural Impacts The outcome of genial relationships that occur between tourists and hosts when in contact. Socio-cultural impacts can have an effect on a destinations culture to the behaviour of its residents. It is considered to be the changes in the character reference of life of residents of tourist destinations. Destinations involved in the tourism business experience socio-cultural changes as a result of tourism activity, an increase in tourist may cause locals to become irritated if they feel that their way of life is being threatened. E.g. Rich tourists who are accustomed to a certain way of life their berth towards the quality of service provided at a destination may cause the locals to feel threatened.

Cars vs. Motorcycles Essay

There are many people that believe that using a helmet go travel a bike will not help in most crashes. There is no data that supports this it is only a theory. Statistics charter no way to predict what would have happened in the resembling accident under the same conditions if the person would have had a helmet or not. There is no guaranty of safety even with wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle. If you are concerned with safety and relieve than riding in a car is an excellent way to go. Cars have been evolving for thousands of years with safety, comfort and style in mind.Given the information above alone makes riding in a car better than riding a motorcycle because a car is safer, quieter, and more comfortable than a motorcycle. Statistics show that 84 of drivers drive a car rather than a motorcycle. There are many features in cars that make them safe. Some of these features would be that they are made of metal. The metal that the car is made of funding ons indivi tern arys inside the vehicle safe from being hit directly in an accident. For instance, the Hummer is one the safest vehicles knocked out(p) there. It originated from the Hum-Vee which is used as a military vehicle. The Hummer frame is the strongest in the car industry. A car has seatbelts that in addition keep you safe. When the seatbelt is buckled, it holds a person into the seat so that in the event of an accident the person is kept safe and inside the car. A seatbelt has a three shoot down safety-belt restraint system that focuses on the shoulders, hip and lap. This protects the bodys internal organs and controls the bodys forward motion during a crash. It also prevents cranial and cervical injuries by minimizing head and eff motion. For example, in Colorado of August 2013 there was a 7 year old boy that was killed in a crash off of highway 119.He was in the cargo area of a 1996 Ford Explorer and was partially ejected during the rollover accident due to him not wearing his seatbel t. Another feature that cars have to keep you safe is the subscriber linebag. Airbags are passive restraints designed to activate automatically when a vehicle gets into an accident. For example, all new vehicles in the United States have to include dual front airbags, but many automakers go above and beyond that minimum requirement such as Toyota. In addition to the car being safe, it is also quiet. What makes a car quiet is that it has doors. A vehicle door erect be opened to provide access to the opening, or closed to secure it.These doors can be opened manually, or powered electronically. Doors when shut keep out noise and weather conditions such as wind, rain and heat. In addition, the Cadillac has won the beat back Trends Car of the Year for the last five years due to the exterior design of their doors. The suction that the Cadillac doors provide keeps out 98 of all noise and air, as well as 100 of all weather conditions. Windows also help keep a car quiet. Car windows have a seal that keeps out wind and noise from the international when rolled up. When rolled down the windows allow air to flow throughout the vehicle. For example, my daughter and I were taking a take off to Pismo, and we had the windows down to enjoy the breeze, but the wind was so loud we couldnt hear each other and had to roll them up. It was so quiet and peaceful after roll up the windows. A car is also comfortable along with being safe and quiet. Cars have lay with backs as well as temperature control. The back of the seats in a vehicle can lean back keeping it comfortable and making it an enjoyable ride. Vehicles also have a system to blow out heat or air conditioning into the car to keep the individuals inside the car comfortable. For instance, the BMW has very comfortable seats. If leaned back it feels like a recliner chair. The air control in the BMW has several settings to keep the driver and passengers comfortable. Riding in a car is safe, quiet and comfortable, unlike rid ing on a motorcycle. For instance, riding a motorcycle is more dangerous than a car because motorcycles are hard to wait on on the road and are easily hit. Due to the sizing of motorcycles there is more of a blind spot than that of a car that makes it easy for them to be hit by other drivers on the road. For example, there is a lady and her husband just last week that were going on a ride to Bass Lake on their motorcycle. They were in their lane on the freeway, and a car didnt see them because they were in the cars blind spot, and they were hit. Tanya suffered from a fractured shoulder and Justin needed surgery for his broken back. Banning motorcycles would cut the accidents on the road by one-half of what they are now. Motorcycles are also dangerous because riders can easily fall off. Motorcycles only have two wheels, one in the front and one in the back. There is nothing to hold the rider onto the bike. For instance, 64 of all motorcycle accidents are due to the rider falling off their 1 / 2 bikes. Riders turn tail to not hold onto the bike as well as they should. If motorcycles were censor the cost of vehicle insurance and medical expenses would decrease considerably. Not only is a motorcycle more dangerous than a car, it is quieter too. Unlike the car that is quiet inside because of the doors and windows, a motorcycle is loud because there is no barrier to outside wind. While riding the wind blowing against the rider is very loud. For example, in 1972 there were 14,000 cases of riders having ear infections and hearing loss due to the wind blowing in their ears while riding. The do of people with hearing issues would go from 74 to 30 if we did not have individuals riding on motorcycles.A car has comfortable options whereas riding a motorcycle is very uncomfortable. When you are riding a bike, and you go over bumps it hurts. Motorcycles are designed with only a little cushion for the rider to straddle so that they do not become too comfortable and lose foc us. When going over bumps in the road the rider feels it in-between their legs. For example, a biker, James Casotle stop riding motorcycles in 1997 for this reason alone. He was so uncomfortable and in pain after getting off his motorcycle he would have a hard time walking.Years of this caused him to have permanent damage to his tailbone. Not only do the bumps in the road cause discomfort so do insects. While riding motorcycles, insects flying around can fly into the riders mouth or eyes. For instance, there is motorcycle insurance commercial, and it shows a rider on the highway. As the guy is riding a swarm of insects fly into him. The bugs fly into his mouth and eyes causing him to crash. Banning motorcycles would result in fewer accidents and medical issues. If motorcycles were banned from the United States, we would have a decrease in taxes since there would not be such a high demand for certain medical issues. We would have safer roads since driving a motorcycle is dangerous fo r those driving cars and the motorcyclist. There are billboards reminding drivers to check twice for motorcycles, but they are still difficult to see and some drive between vehicles. If motorcycles did not exist, it would cut down on accident and deaths greatly.Y, dXiJ(x(? I_TS? 1EZBmU/xYy5g/GMGeD3Vqq8K)fw9 xrxwrTZaGy8IjbRcXI u3KGnD1NIBs RuKV. ELM2fi? V? vlu8zH (W )6-rCSj id? Referee Report for Economics Manuscript Essay

Different Risk-Adjusted Fund Performance Measures A ComparisonSummary This paper compares various risk-adjusted ope dimensionn measures for a set of mutual funds. The authors argue that performance measures based on Value-at-Risk ( volt-ampere) or Extreme Value Theory (EVT) are much appropriate than new(prenominal) popular performance measures such as the Sharpe ratio (SR), the Treynor index (TI) or Jensens Alpha (JA) . They propose a performance index similar to the SR and the TI based on losses compute by means of VaR together with EVT. They rein that EVT-VaR measures are more appropriate in the presence of non-normal data.Main Comments The topic of the paper is of relevance for pecuniary practitioners as well as academics and it is certainly applicable to the current financial stability context. The paper is overly generally wellwritten. However, I have some comments for its improvement. 1. The region of the paper is not clearly stated. In the 6th paragraph of the introduc tion, the authors suggest that their main contri preciselyion is the construction of a performance index based on EVT-VAR. However, it is not very clear why the new proposed measure should be better in relation to existing measures as it is now explained. It is true that VaR or EVT should be more reliable measures for extreme events but when looking at formula (13) it is not apparent why this measure should be more reliable than the traditional measures. The denominator has, in fact, an extreme takings as opposed to the SR or TI which have strictly second moments, so it is not very straight forward to relate these measures.A better job should be done at explaining the implications of such VaR based measure, how it relates to other measures and why it should be better. 2. Why have the measures been compared only in a static way? It is widely known in the finance literature that asset return volatility is time-varying, and to some extent, also expected returns. It would be possible t o go around the latter by arguing market efficiency (which is also questionable) but it is certainly much more difficult to argue against time-variability of the standard deviation in the VaR measures (or in the SA and TI ratios). This is very important as the swell or bad applicability of a particular performance measure could be sample dep hold onent and as it is now with unconditional measures, this is hard to uncover. For instance, musical composition the authors account for nonnormality of returns in the modified-VaR measure by means of a Corner-Fisher quantile, they assume a constant standard deviation which means that in periods of high volatility they could still understate the VaR. So at the minimum, the performance comparisons should be done for the full sample and diametrical sub-samples and it should be tested whether the measures obtained are significantly different over different samples. 3. The authors concentrate on top 10 and dawn 10 funds for their analysis and discarded the other funds for the sake of simpleness. However, by choosing only the tail funds, the authors are giving from the start an advantage to EVT or VaR measures. It would be more appropriate to also report results on (say) 10 mid funds.4. It is not very clear why the top 10 funds show more departures from normality in relation to so-and-so funds. This finding should be expanded and the intuition behind it should be better explained. One could argue that losers could be more volatile than winners as the level of doubtfulness with respect to the fund might increase which could lead to more extreme returns. In fact, in the 3rd paragraph of the empirical result section it says the bottom 10 funds have, in general, higher VaR values than the top ones, which means that they are more susceptible to extreme events which is somewhat contradictory with the finding that the top 10 funds exhibit more departures from normality. Moreover, one of the main findings of the study is that the VaR and EVT performance measures perform best in relation to other measures when there are more departures from normality in returns. A better attempt to reconcile the findings of nonnormality, the winner vs. looser funds and the results on the performance measures with some former studies or satisfactory intuition should be done.Other comments 1. The contributions of the paper should be stated earlier in the paper and not almost at the end of the introduction as it is now. The contributions should be clearer (see also point 1 above) and should be better related to the existing relevant literature. 2. The conclusion is too long. The concluding remarks should be much shorter and should only summarize the main findings and reconcile them with the issues raised in the introduction as well as highlight possible extensions for future work.3. The tables should also be improved. They should have a short description of the contents to facilitate reading. As it is now, the reader has to constantly come back to the main text to find out what the contents mean. 4. The figures are hardly visible, they should also be improved and a short explanation should be given.

Outsorcing

Nowadays, many companies use outsourcing to be an alternative source to do specific work, processes, and activities to get benefits from within an organization to outside providers without aw be of takingss on local worker or country economic. According to Reap W. According to wry. Serviette. Com, what is outsourcing (n. D. ), outsourcing is a process of hiring outside internal companies or workers from domestic or afield to do specific work such as manufacturer, marketing or even content writing. Pr esently, outsourcing is very habitual in slow give rise countries such as Laos, Vietnamese, India and Thailand because several factors.According to Overly (2007), low costing, lack of n-house resource, variable capacity, access to specific IT skills, increase flexibility to meet new business and commercial conditions , these are the major factors that lead big country come to invest outsource in undeveloped country. For example, harmonize to Matthews (2012), many U. S companies invested in India and Vietnam such as Aids, Leno. These companies mainly produce their product oversea because lower labor cost that make them produce product in cheaper price and customer stand open it.Another example is gasoline, gasoline price is continue decrease, even Hough much oil are produce from other countries so public was stated that the factor effect to gas prices are more money spend needs and other wants. According to Plunked research, Introduction of outsourcing and offshore industry, one of outsource service very popular and continue to be strong hiring thousands of Jobs to work in China and India is engineer and researcher that in 2010, the follow of worker in IBM is from oversea is over 80000 the great unwashed and it r for each oneed to 112000 people in 2012.These examples were affiliated to the reasons of manufactured goods and sots, materials and services. Outsourcing causes local worker who live or work in developed country lose their Job. According to chromosome mapping (2008), outsourcing purpose is to cut production cost by hire other foreign companies and workers to do specific work so it leads to people losing Job and 40 percent of US company is sending Job to foreign countries and over 31 percent of US citizen are lose their Job. This statistic seems obvious that outsourcing make US citizen loses their Job and it can connect to major problem. For example, according to kimono (2009), an increase of trade U. S. Jobs to oversea as well as increase of Jobs losses that has impact on U. S. Economy as a whole such as MM, Ford Motor and GE Capital realize sent a high offspring of Jobs to other countries and chosen employ cheap labor instead of hiring worker in their country. For example, some common depression symptoms are feelings of worthlessness, helplessness, guilt, fatigue, insomnia and restlessness, according to Empower. Some symptoms of anxiety include worrying, obsessive thoughts, fear, panic, impa tience, concentration problems, rapid or irregular heartbeat and nausea. Moreover, outsourcing can make many Jobs at endangerment to distinct, according to Opposing viewpoint Legislation to Limit Outsourcing Is Essential and Effective, The Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that about 51 5 occupations are at risk of infection to distinct and 160 of these Job are change to be offshore outsource and over 300,000 occupations will disappear annual after year 2015. These reasons have showed that outsourcing causes Job losing, slow development and mental illness on people. Moreover, outsourcing causes global economic crisis which is major problem to every country because it can affect to land economic.According to Rather (2014), who has a PhD in organic chemistry from Oxford University as well as a Bachelor of Technology n chemical, In 2013, the number of unemployment is change magnitude millions people that causes global economic crisis, in contrasted, India, a country which education h as just boomed, there are now has fewer people unemployment than U. S. s. According to Losing Jobs, The real impact of the Economic Crisis (2012), As more and more businesses go to the wall, rising unemployment levels are a clear and devastating indication of the problems that workers are facing worldwide. The international Labor Organization is forecasting that more than 50 million workers could lose their bobs this year and up to 200 million more will be plunged into native poverty. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development says that by next year jobless numbers in rich nations could rise by eight million to 42 million. The UK has just registered the biggest quarterly Jump in unemployment since the 1981 depths of recession. This is a result from outsourcing that lead to local worker in U.S loses their Job and it may lead to major problems. For example, according to Junker (n. D. ), investment in real capital cities is stagnant and a lot of consumers have slowed R oth in paying money and it make economic crisis. These factors are connected to slower develop country and if this continue to long-term protesting will happen in finally. On the other hand, outsourcing can improve country economy and develop country standard. According to Grant G. (n. D. ), outsourcing can offer over 90000 Jobs to local worker and foreign worker in 2003 that U.S. Companies use offshore sourcing lower costs, to hold them to hired U. S. By called for a tax credit to help pay extra money for American companies which agreed to stop hiring worker overseas operations to take umber of Jobs back to American land as part of his incurring agenda. Surprisingly, more than 100,000 IT Job software and hardware are moved to other countries , but the number of U. S. Job is created more than 90000 as the result from cost saving and offshore outsource. However, outsourcing can destroy country economy and overview of country. For example, outsourcing causes major problem by job losin g when people lose Job, they will concern their money how to live, how to spend their money as the result they will spend money less and country economic will struggle then country will slower developed. Moreover, when people get more stress and it over limited that person can cope with, they will suicide and this problem will bring overview of country get worse so these can demonstrate that outsourcing can cause many problem that a problem connected to other and it will be major issue. In sum, U. S. Companies and government should cooperate to reduce number of using outsource to solve the following problems that will happen after offshore order to relief economic crisis and decrease number of unemployment that caused by outsourcing.

Improve Own Practice in Learning and Development Essay

wherefore L&D practitioners must engage in reflective practice and continue CPD. Analyse ca lend oneself values, beliefs and attitudes and the impact on their practice. Engaging in Reflective practice is associated with the melioratement of the quality of c be, stimulating personal, passe-partout growth and the closing gap between theory between theory and practice. J Dewey was among the first to deal the questions of psychology and the theory of experience, I liked Brookfield (1998) as his notion explained discussing and talking and contemplating through the learners eyes. The appeal of the use of reflective practice is that as teaching and culture are complex, and there is not one right approach, reflecting on different versions of teaching, and reshaping past and sure experiences will lead to improvement.Schns (1983) reflectionin-action assists practitioners in making the maestro knowledge that they will gain from their experience in the schoolroom an explicit part of t heir decision-making. Research base practices strongly condenses the importance of the teacher/ facilitator being a passing trained, reflective professional. The importance of reflecting on what you are doing, as part of the attainment process, has also been empathised by more investigators, for example the second stage of Kolbs (1984) culture cycle, reflective observation.Reflective observation suffer be an important to a faultl in practice based professional learning settings where individuals learning from their own professional experiences, rather than from formal teaching or knowledge transfer, maybe the most important source of personal professional development and improvement. Another way to look at it is through Lewin/Kolbs single-loop learning, and the Argyris and Schn concept double-loop learning which were mapped from the works of Ashby (1960) while working on cybernetics.Single-loop learning is like a thermostat that learns when it is too hot or too cold and turns the heat on or off. The thermostat can transact this task because it can receive information (the temperature of the room) and take clearive action. Double-loop learning occurs when an error is detected and reverse in ways that involve the modification of an organizations underlying norms, policies and objectives. Double loop learning uses feedback from past actions to question assumptions underlying current views. Davies (2012) explained the benefits to reflective practice Increased learning from an experience for lieuPromotion of deep learningIdentification of personal and professional strengths and areas for improvementIdentification of educational inevitablyAcquisition of new knowledge and skillsFurther gaining of own beliefs, attitudes and valuesEncouragement of self-motivation and self-directed learningCould act as a source of feedbackPossible improvements of personal and clinical confidence. There are a number of ways to monitor your performance regularly, capturing incid ental/experienced learning by care a self-reflective journal, by reading it over and over again I can begin to decompose achievements however sm each they seem and develop a greater level of self-awareness. This is where I try to mark the needs to enhance my own learning so that a bigger benefit for the learner to go on and achieve something in their future. Firstly I identified my own preferred learning style as everyone learns in different ways. There are many ways to establish your preferred way of learning and as supported by Reece and Walker (2009), All students are individuals and no two students learn the same way.To move forward in life, we all need to improve our ideas, broaden relevant knowledge and skills. Getting constructive feedback (for example, learners, peers, mentors and colleagues) are important aspects of reflection. Performance indicators of the organisation are identified, it shows whether I am current with the ways of facilitating and is it having an impa ct on learners. Resisting from a classroom culture of control, with the correct amount of care and tutoring, learners would be able to participate in classes with simplified understanding. Providing adequate feedback is an important aspect, I always try to rephrase a question with learners so not only do they understand and try to answer correctly, they feel great when they receive feedback which motivates them to learn. When I provide learners with time and space to be aware of their own knowledge and their own thinking, student owners hip increases. Research shows that metacognition can be taught (Visible Learning, 2009). development reflective practice I am able to instil values that the learner can use in their life and work.

All the World by William Shakespeare Essay

William Shakespeare has been considered the greatest poet of all times. Only school educated, this great poet acquired fame because he had an extraordinary power of annotation which he tempered with his brilliant imagination that gave a creative emanation to his art. He was also gifted with unique taste of music which helped him to compose beautiful songs and sonnets. His imagination and observation along with a keen ear towards tone and rhythm r culminationered a sonorous and lyrical fiber to his verses- something which was lacking(p) in other poets of his times.Shakespeare wrote several comedies, tragedies and poems depicting his profound wisdom and psychological understanding of world nature. The poem All Worlds a Stage is typical example of Shakespearean supporter as he metaphorically compares the world to a academic degree where every human makes an entry same(p) a stage actor, plays different roles and, when time declares, leaves the stage eventually. The poem is beauti ful example of his vision of life. The primary stage of life is infancy. The poet here describes a baby crying and throwing out in the mothers arm calling for attention. Acquired capability and skills Essay

face at my boilers suit capability and skills acquired in my current faculty memberian class, I argue that I had alter a lot since I started taking this course. The activities the professor supportd gave me the opportunity to recognize my strengths and weaknesses in composition and embodimenter(a) factors signifi toilettet in completing and creating a high-priced piece. Given this creative thinker, I seek to elaborate on areas that I had sought to advance on and other specific elements that need further attention. At the selfsame(prenominal) time, to support these claims, I shall provide several examples from my previous flirts to highlight changes that occurred. One relevant element in academic writing is the creation of thesis statement. This objurgate/s provides readers direction of the topic and assists them advance understand the relevance of the subject (UNC, p. 1). Seeing this, our professor taught us that creating thesis statement must so encompass all of th e news report and efficaciously summarize and point out the arguments holded in a incident piece.Due to this, my first intention was creating such statement and find right smart of lifes to persuade, entice or provide information to readers. face at my compositions, it ass be seen that I had significantly changed the way I approached creating thesis statements. In my earlier compositions, these statements are either too vague for readers to comprehend or just implied in the radical. Due to this, I had to sterilize the necessary adjustments to improve the way I compose such. However, this problem has been turn to accordingly in my last paper. In here, I placed the statement at the end of the paper which says that The growing problem of poverty simply created the other problems concerning other facets of life environmental issues, urban housing, health issues, corruption, and the like (The Slum Residents Feed Off From Danger, p. 4). Seeing this, I liveliness that I need t o improve in the way I create thesis statements. This is to further create impact in my papers and foster deeper understanding on my readers. Whether it is an informational or persuasive, I must find ways to align my paper accordingly to my prone thesis statement.A nonher area that I had seen myself improve is the creation of supporting expand to assist my given thesis statement. I had learned in class that for a paper to be academic, it must be able to provide details that will either supplement or maintain the arguments provided in the main idea. That is why, during the course of activities, I had tried to find ways to align my paper to the given topic I chose. For example, the flyer I created concerning malnutrition sought to bridge together the idea of how this issue has alter many and what ways can one try to address the issue.Assessing my current capabilities as far as this facet is concerned, I expression that I subdued need to improve in the way I link my supporting d etails to my main idea. This is because there are serene several non-related topics that get inserted inwardly my paper. At the same time, I must make sure that these details correlate and synchronize effectively within my work. By actively doing this, I can give readers an easier time in understanding and comprehending my overall intention for writing the paper. Introduction is also a vital element in the creation of an academic paper. This is because it gives readers the ability to become aware of either a backgrounder or the topic discussed in the paper. Having an effective basis can entice readers to read the article and help them become acquainted with the issue given (UNC, p. 1). Looking at my personal experience in generating introductions, I feel that I had made considerable progress. though at first this may seem to be the most difficult disjoint of the paper to write, I sought out different strategies that can help me maximize my ability to create a right-hand(a) acade mic paper.Looking at my compositions, there is one paper that I feel provided a good opening for my paper. Since the topic I am talking about revolves around contact zones, I began my paper by describing the idea for readers to actively decipher what to expect in the paper. It mentions It is chief(prenominal) to understand that the social social structure of racial, ethnic, and hierarchical differences, whether physical or cultural, exist as a human experience in the form of contact zones. (American Society and Contact Zones, p. 1).Thus, assessing my capabilities in this facet, I feel that I had made improvements in the way I construct introductory sentences that bridge the main idea or topic to the readers. However, I still feel that there are still setbacks that I need to address to be able to maximize my ability in creating effective statements. I need to make sure for each one time that this avowal coincides with what I want the readers to make sense of. As far as creating c onclusions are concerned, throughout the time of the course, I had tried to improve on the way I compose these statements. It has been taught that is necessary that I make a striking ending assertion so that it can stick to the mind of readers. Allowing these things to happen can help increase the strength of the paper and further justify the arguments I presented. Analyzing my success in doing this, I feel that I still need to improve in the way I do this because my ideas notwithstanding try to point out again what I wrote in the previous sections (e. g. Global Community and American Society). Rather than just restating what I mentioned before, I must also highlight the overall stand of the paper and signify the justifications for advocating such belief.Lastly, I had also learned that my conclusion must not end in posting another topic because it can make the readers confused and think that this is just another part of the paper. structure, organization and coherence are the nex t elements I wish to evaluate myself on. These three factors also generate to the ability of an academic paper to convey information and insights to readers. By taking into consideration the relevance of these ideas, I can increase the ability of people to actively learn from the process and prevent concepts and arguments to be disjointed (Darmouth, p. 1).Assessing my growth in the element of structure, I feel that I have shown great strength in making sure that my composition fit a particular structure in the paper. In here, I approached each research in a different manner depending on the scope and tone that I wish to convey. For example, in my argumentative essay entitled Global Community, I structured the paper by first pointing out my main argument and because providing justifications and details to support the paper. On the other hand, in my flyer paper, I brought out the thesis statement and provided relevant information associated with the said topic which is malnutrition .Thus, I feel that I had shown advancement as far as this idea is concerned. For coherence, I still feel that I need to focus on increasing and establishing links in every paragraphs of my paper. This is because the ideas I present in every section seem to not directly relate with one another. Such can give my readers a hard time in establishing a link with the main idea presented and the way I seek out to justify each one. Seeing this, I need to come up with good transition statements that can help readers relate the concepts from the previous paragraphs to the next. These statements can either be in sentence pattern or words such as (1) Moreover, (2) Likewise, (3) In addition, etc. This can help supplement the way I address the paper and signify a new set of ideas to be introduced to the reader. Another strategy I wish to explore and improve on is making effective outlines for a specific research/academic paper. I had learned in class that by making outlines, I can effectively and efficiently prevent mistakes in organization and coherence because this can serve as the backbone for the paper.Allowing myself to device an outline for a specific topic, I can insert and attach important items and concepts on categories it best fits. The last part I wish to ponder on revolves around sentence construction, grammar usage and punctuations. Since I am dwelling with academic paper and not a personal intercommunicate it is essential that I see to it that my papers are proofread and follow the rules of the English language. This can then help me hone my grasp of the language and apply the standards I had learned. Reviewing my punctuation marks, I feel that I still need to master and learn several elements. This is because, I can see that I still common mistakes in placing periods, semicolons, colons and commas in a sentences. In here, I must review and understand where each one should be placed and under what conditions can they be only applied. Due to this, I feel that I had only satisfactorily achieved this element and needs to be further improved. As far as grammar usage is concerned, I also consider myself satisfactory because I still have to improve on the words I use in a specific sentence or paragraph.Since these words convey meaning in a particular argument or statement, it is essential that I choose the idea that best fits the description. Though I also learned that using simple words is good, however I must also make sure that these things never get repeated over and over in a particular paragraph. In the end, I feel that the subject has given me new avenues to improve and develop. examine my previous compositions, I had seen myself acquire new ideas and skills that can help boost my ability to write academic paper. However, I must also recognize that there are still elements that I need to work on.By constantly working and honing these things, I can maximize my ability and skills to serve my purpose not only in this subject but also for my own personal growth.
